Falls in Stroke Survivors (FISS Trial)
About this research
This project is exploring whether the addition of the Stroke Action Falls program is better than usual care alone in reducing falls in people with stroke in the first 12 months after discharge from hospital.

Who can participate
You're eligible to participate in this study if you:
- are aged over 18 years, and
- have been home from hospital for less than 12 months.
What's involved
Participants will:
- receive up to four (4) sessions with a Stroke Action Falls trained health professional via a Telehealth or home visit consult (depending on location)
- be invited to talk to a researcher about the experience of Stroke Action Falls
- receive monthly calls to check about falls, and
- a questionnaire every three (3) months provided in a format that best suits (email, phone, telehealth or mail).
Benefits of participating
Participants will contribute to research understanding best care following stroke.

This study has been approved by National Health and Medical Research Council’s (NHMRC) National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research (2023).
