Australian Lung Screen Trial (ALST)
About this research
We are researching how best to identify people who are at risk of lung cancer and may benefit from screening in different Australian settings.
We are conducting 3 screening trials for different cohorts:
- Never/light smokers
- People at risk of developing lung cancer living in a range of geographic and socioeconomic
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
Who can participate
You're eligible to participate in this study if you are:
- aged 50–80 years old and are a current or former smoker, or
- aged 55–74 years old and have never smoked, or
- aged 50–80 years old and are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and
- in good health.
What's involved
As part of this research, you’ll be asked to undergo a chest CT scan.
Depending on the trial you are participating in, you may be required to travel. Trial site locations are in Queensland, Western Australia, Northern Territory and in Dubbo, NSW.
