FITTEST Study: Are you interested in ageing well?
About this research
The FITTEST Study is aimed at understanding how to improve health and wellbeing of older adults by preventing or slowing frailty.
Our team of health professionals and researchers seek to support older people so that they can maintain their independence and remain in control, living at home and connected to their community.
Who can participate
You're eligible to participate in this study if you:
- are over the age of 65 years or 55 years if you identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
- are living in the community (this includes your own home, with family, or in a retirement village)
- have noticed yourself slowing down or needing a bit more help
- are able to use an electronic device and travel to research activities within your local area.
What’s involved
You'll be asked to:
- engage in a program to optimise your exercise, nutrition, medication and social support, with check-ins at 6 and 12 months
- be randomly assigned to receive a self-directed program with online resources or a supported program (involving two exercise sessions each week with an exercise professional near your study hub, one dietitian assessment and fortnightly/monthly health coach support) with online resources.
Benefits of participating
You'll receive a $50 gift card at baseline assessment and again at the 6 and 12 month assessments.
How to participate
If you meet the eligibility criteria and you’re interested in participating, register your interest.
