Muscle activation patterns of pelvic floor and deep hip muscles in women
About this research
The pelvic floor muscles are located at the base of the pelvis. They are responsible for the support of pelvic organs and contribute to continence mechanisms. Deep hip muscles may influence pelvic floor muscles and may contribute to the mechanism of pain or dysfunction in the area.
Your participation will help us to better understand the relationship between these muscles and contribute to improved clinical practice.

- have not given birth or have not yet reached menopause.
What's involved
You'll be asked to:
- complete a questionnaire
- attend one or two sessions (3–4 hours per session).
The sessions will involve the recording of muscle activity from the pelvic floor and hip muscles in laying down, standing and during movements such as squatting.
Assessment sessions will take place at St Lucia campus.
Benefits of participating
Participants will receive $50 per assessment session.
How to participate
