Parents coaching their shy child to face their fears
About this research
We’re coaching parents to conduct exposure therapy (“facing your fears”) with children who are shy.
Who can participate
You're eligible to participate in this study if:
- you have a shy child aged 7–17 years old
- your child’s shyness is causing ongoing issues in their life
- you and your child can attend 2 sessions of exposure therapy at UQ Psychology Clinic, St Lucia.
What's involved
As part of this study:
- you and your child will attend 2 face-to-face treatment sessions at UQ Psychology Clinic, St Lucia
- you will be coached in conducting exposure therapy and complete self-report evaluations of your child’s anxiety
- your child will be encouraged to practice interacting with other people and face their social fears.
